Patricia Violette Named Executive Director of the
Sanford-Springvale Historical Society

Sanford-Springvale Historical Society has named Patricia Violette as its new Executive Director, effective October 1. Violette most recently was the Executive Director of the Portsmouth Submarine & Maritime Association (Albacore Park) in Portsmouth, NH. She brings over 30 years of museum leadership experience to the role.
In addition to Albacore Park, Violette was Executive Director of Mt. Kearsage Indian Museum in Warner, NH, and the Shirley-Eustis House in Boston, MA. She was also Acting Director and Curator of Education at Old Fort Western in Augusta, Maine. She received a BA in History from the University of Southern Maine, an MS in Education from Thomas College, and is currently pursuing a Higher Education Certificate from Harvard University. She has given presentations and published articles on diverse subjects including William Shirley’s influence on the American Revolution, Midwifery and Medicine in the 18th Century, and the Franco-Americans. Violette said, “I am honored to be a part of Sanford-Springvale Historical Society’s future. There are so many opportunities for growth and I cannot wait to get started! “
