Jeanne Herrick passed away on Nov. 11, 2024. She was born on Nov. 5, 1943, to the late Charles and Esther (Proctor) Herrick in Henniker, NH. Her passion was helping people. After earning her LPN nursing degree, she worked at Frisbie Memorial in Rochester, NH, as an ICU/surgical nurse and later head nurse at Mainstay Nursing Home in Sanford. Jeanne went back to school in her early 40s to earn her BS in criminal justice. She worked at the Bail Project in Portland, helping low-level offenders avoid jail time by helping them find personal and vocational resources to turn their lives around and reintegrate themselves into society. She had compassion for the plight of American Indians and worked on the Passamaquoddy reservation in Maine and the Mashantucket Pequot reservation in Connecticut. She thoroughly enjoyed what life had to offer – good music, cream with a little coffee, and spending quality time with loved ones. Jeanne joins her parents Charles and Esther (Proctor) Herrick, siblings Harvey Herrick and Leona Henderson, son Keith Gilpatrick Jr., and grandson Harold “Harley” Cole II. She is survived by her brother John Herrick of Bellevue, WA, children Melissa Gallant of Sanford Maine and Corinna Cole of Lebanon, and a large extended family. A memorial service will be held at the Carll-Heald and Black Funeral Home on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 1 pm. John Arthur Herrick

John Arthur Herrick, 75, of Sanford, formerly of Gloucester, MA, passed away on Wednesday evening, Jan. 1, 2025. He was born August 23, 1949, in Ludlow, MA, to Arthur and Catherine (Kapinos) Herrick. After graduating high school, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Vietnam War, something he was immensely proud of. He then went on to have a successful career as a boat mechanic, working in several boatyards on the North Shore of Massachusetts. One of the things he enjoyed earlier in life was seeing the building of his dream lobster boat, the Sea Robin, and spending his summers lobstering and fishing with his two kids. He loved all things outdoors and could rarely sit still. Anyone could find him working on boats, motors, or house projects. Upon retirement, he settled in a cabin on a lake in Sanford with his wife, Janice Herrick. He spent his days puttering around the yard, boating, going to the shooting range, and anything to be outside. In addition to his wife, Janice, he is survived by his children, John Herrick with partner Amy Cavender and Cheryl Herrick-Stella with husband, Jad Stella; three grandchildren, Cameron Stella, Aiden Herrick and Trey Herrick; his sister, Dianne Craft; brothers, Ray Herrick and his wife Leanne, Steve Herrick and his wife Deborah, sister, Louise Rose and her husband Jim, brother Tim Herrick; sister, Sally Peacey and her husband Bill along with his first wife Carol (Curtis) Herrick. He was predeceased by his parents. A graveside service with military honors will be held at the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam, on Friday March 14, at 3 pm.

Patrice Adel (Pray) Loughran

Patrice Adel (Pray) Loughran, lovingly referred to as “P,” passed away peacefully in Portland surrounded by her loving family on Dec. 12, 2024, at the age of 70. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and compassion. She was born in Lewiston on June 2, 1954, and grew up in Minot and Portland, graduating from Portland High School in 1972. Her selfless spirit led her to become a CNA, caring for others at Maine Medical Center and Pineland Hospital and Training Center until she devoted herself full time to raising her children. Patrice and her family lived in various places, including Windham, Yarmouth, and Eastport, eventually settling in Springvale, where she remained until her passing. Patrice was the glue that held her family together. Her love for music, including piano and guitar, was inspiring, and her passion for painting, photography, and gardening was a testament to her creative spirit. She is predeceased by her father, Leslie Pray, her mother Ellen Melvin, and two brothers, Leslie (Finn) Pray and James (Jay) Melvin. She is survived by her life partner John Loughran, her daughter Jennifer Loughran and her life partner Vincent Hersom, her son Ryan Loughran and his wife Lori, her son Thomas, and five grandchildren She is also survived by her sister Susan (Gene) Fecteau of Windham, three brothers, Michael (Naomi) Pray of Mechanic Falls, James (Suzanne) Pray of Greene, and David (Sharon) Pray of Sanford. Her memory will be cherished by her nieces, dear friends, and all those whose lives she touched. The family will gather for a Celebration of Life on Feb. 9 at noon at the Springvale Social Club, where we will come together to share stories, memories, and laughter, honoring the extraordinary life of Patrice Adel Loughran.

Barbara Moore

Barbara Moore, 86, of Sanford, passed away peacefully at her home on Dec. 31, 2024, following a brief illness. She was born in Falls Church, VA, on March 29, 1938, the daughter of Harvey and Effie (Browne) Turner. She met and married the love of her life, Gene Moore, in 1959. Together they raised three children. They had celebrated their 64th anniversary just prior to Gene’s death in November 2022. Barbara enjoyed crafting of all kinds and often taught classes in making porcelain dolls. Lately, she enjoyed crocheting colorful and unique Christmas ornaments, coloring, embroidery and quilting. She leaves a lot of her unique projects to her family to enjoy for years to come. Barbara was predeceased by her parents and husband. She is survived by her three children, Larry and wife Wanda, Elaine and husband Anthony and Terri and husband Tim; her sister Pat Goben of Pipe Creek, TX; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Robert Liberty

Robert Liberty, 88, of Alfred, died peacefully on Jan. 10, 2025, at Maine Medical Center-Biddeford. Bob was born in Sanford on April 9, 1936, to Victor and Anita (Vermette) Liberty. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After the war, he returned home and began working as a pipefitter at the Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth. When he retired from the shipyard, he was a school bus driver for the Massabesic school system. Bob was very mechanical. He repaired bicycles for children and gave them to those who needed them. His hobbies included motorcycle trips, hunting, fishing, and creating a haunted house for the community during Halloween. Bob is survived by his wife of 68 years, Anita; sons Michael of Sanford and David (Bryanna) of Buckeye Lake, OH; sister Ann Hammer of Arizona; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 2 pm on Monday, Jan. 20, at the Alfred Parish Church. Burial of the cremated remains with military honors will be held in the spring at Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford.
