Beatrice (“Bebe, Bea”) Clark Brown, 101, passed away on July 10, 2025, in Silver Spring, MD after a long illness. She was born in Piqua, Ohio, the second of three daughters of Florence and Horace Clark of Alfred. The three sisters were called “the Clark Girls” and they loved spending time walking, finding shells on Maine beaches and, in later years, playing cards. During the Great Depression, the family moved to Sanford, where their father took a position as the superintendent for the Sanford Water District. Bebe graduated from Sanford High School, and the University of New Hampshire. She married Howard W. Brown, in 1946 and they were married for 62 years. Her beloved husband died in 2014. Bebe built a life both around family and a professional career. Her first job was in the accounting department at Sanford Mills, later a middle school math teacher, a Fortran programmer for General Electric, and a system analyst at a bank. What she enjoyed most was teaching calculus and statistics at Nasson College in Springvale. Her hobbies included volunteering, knitting hats for the Maine Medical Center’s “Hats for Kids with Cancer,” sewing, baking, playing cards, entertaining, walking on the beach, reading and church. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and treasurer of its Exeter, NH, chapter. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Annie Brown (Paul Gawchik), along with Kirsten Enzinger (Larry), their daughter Sandy Sanders (David); Richard M. Moroney, Anne Moroney and Jean Binswanger (Harry); nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A memorial service will be held at the Interfaith Chapel at Leisure World, Silver Spring, MD in late September. Burial service will be held at the Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford in early October.
