Passages

Compiled by Rev. Susan Murphy
Traci Young, 52, of Wells, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Born on Aug. 25, 1973, in Sanford, Traci attended schools in both Sanford and Wells. From a young age, she was known for her warm personality, her humor, and her remarkable ability to connect with everyone she met.
Traci worked for several years at the Norseman Resort in Ogunquit. She enjoyed and took great pride in her work and continued there as long as she was physically able. Throughout her illness, she remained a brave inspiration to all who knew her—never complaining, staying positive, and meeting every challenge with strength and grace.
She loved being at the beach, spending time with her family, and gathering with friends. Social by nature, Traci enjoyed movies, plays and attending Sanford Mainers games. She also liked visiting casinos and, even during her illness, drove herself all the way to New Jersey for a trip she was determined to make.
Traci was a diligent supporter of her nephew Ethan’s baseball games, rarely missing the chance to cheer him on. Her upbeat spirit, outgoing personality and sense of humor made her a joy to be around. Traci will be sorely missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
She was predeceased by her grandparents, Lionel and Cecile Gauthier and Laurent and Betty Young, cousin Steve Roy, and godmother Jane Gosselin.
Survivors include her sons Reese Hodge of Springvale and Nathan Bourque of Shapleigh, parents Linda and Roland Rouillard of Wells and Larry and Marilyn Young of Springvale, her siblings Shawn Young and his wife Elizabeth of Springvale, Jennifer Rouillard of Portsmouth, NH, Tyler Rouillard and his wife Rachel of England and Brittany Savage and her husband Brendan; nieces and nephews Elijah Tremblay, Ethan Young, Shae Welch, Hugo Rouillard, Ginny Rouillard, Ariana Young and Declan Savage, uncle and godfather Wayne Young, several aunts and uncles, many friends, and special longtime friend Blair Hodge, along with her beautiful cat Nala, who was always by her side.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Dec. 5 at 10 am at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, 66 North Ave., Sanford.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Maine Health Cancer Care in Scarborough and all the wonderful nurses and staff, particularly Dr. Jason Lachance, and Hospice of Southern Maine for their exceptional care of Traci. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to The American Cancer Society at https://donate.cancer.org/
