Sanford High School’s girls’ tennis team finished 11-5 to earn the No. 7 seed in the Class A South playoffs.

SHS girls’ tennis end magical season in Regional Final

Sanford High School’s girls’ tennis season ended at the Class A South Regional Final against Falmouth on Monday, June 10, at Bates College in Lewiston.

Sanford finished the season at 11-5 to earn the No. 7 seed and beat No. 2 Gorham and No. 3 Cheverus to make the regional final.

Olivia Guinard won the only match for the Spartans as she beat Falmouth’s Sophia Tucker 6-2, 6-3.

Willis hits for the cycle, Bade homers twice to lead Mainers Over Swamp Bats

Mainers left fielder CJ Willis hit for the cycle, and Devin Bade hit two home runs on Saturday, June 8, to help lead Sanford to an 8-2 win over the Keene Swamp Bats in a NECBL baseball game at Alumni Field in Keene, NH.

Willis and Bade both homered in the third inning to give Sanford a 4-0 lead. Willis completed his cycle with an RBI triple in the top of the sixth inning to extend Sanford’s lead to 7-2. Bade hit his second home run in the eighth.

On Monday, June 10, the Mainers used a seven-run fifth inning to get past the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks, 8-6, at Vineyard Park in Oak Bluffs, MA.

Christopher Willis, Corbin Lanowitz, and Mateo Hernandez each produced RBI singles in the fifth to put Sanford ahead 8-2. Sanford starting pitcher Connor Ball held Martha’s Vineyard to two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out six over 4 ⅓ innings.
