Adopt a furrever friend for less this Labor Day weekend: Animal Welfare Society (AWS) is running an adoption promotion through Sunday, Aug. 31. Discounted adoption fees are being offered on cats, dogs, rabbits and more, including kittens and puppies — from 25 to 100 percent off, depending on the species. AWS is at capacity, so the organization would like to see this promotion bring in more people interested in adopting, especially those who may not have visited before. The goal is to find loving homes for the animals and to make room for other lost and homeless pets in Southern Maine.

Those interested in adding a furrever friend to their home can stop by the AWS Adoption Center, 46 Holland Road in Kennebunk, from 10 am – 12:30 pm and 1:30 – 3:30 pm for a meet and greet with the pets. After adopters meet with an adoption counselor and spend some time with the pet, adopters can bring the pet home with them the same day. All adoptions are on a first come, first serve basis. For pets in foster care, adopters must call ahead to schedule an appointment.

FMI on the weekend event, go to adoption promotion. To view the AWS animals waiting for new homes, visit the AWS website.
