Cloggers on Way to National Competition

By Lisa Blanchette

Excitement is running high for the dancers from Northern Explosion Dance Studio of Sanford as they prepare for their trip to Nashville, TN, to compete in the USA National Clogging Championships. While some students have enjoyed extra time at the beach this summer, this group has racked up extra practice time at the studio to make sure they are prepared to compete.

This event is held annually at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel on Labor Day Weekend and is a major event sanctioned by the National Clogging Organization. This prestigious event features dancers from across the country competing in various traditional and contemporary styles, including team, duo and solo categories.

Dancers will have just a bit of free time, so they have scheduled a trip to the Nashville Zoo on Friday morning before their practice on Friday evening, team competitions all day Saturday and solo and duo competitions all day Sunday.
