Dollie Hutchins, 75, of Sanford passed away at her home on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2025. She graduated from Sanford High School in 1968 and went on to the University of Maine Portland/Gorham, where she earned a BS in education and a Master of Education. Dollie also attended Nasson College. A schoolteacher for many years in the Sanford school system, she touched many lives.

Dollie was very knowledgeable, loved jigsaw puzzles, geocaching, day trips, kayaking, lobster rolls, a good pair of jodhpur boots, her kitty named Stella and watching various horse shows online in her spare time. She was an avid supporter of American Saddlebred Association of Maine and Maine Horse Association for many years. Dollie was instrumental in promoting the versatility of the American Saddlebred in and out of the show ring and recently won the Mae Condon Award, established by the American Saddlebred Versatility Association Charter Club. She encouraged many junior exhibitors in and out of the show ring, taking them under her wing to teach them everything the Saddlebred has to offer. She was involved in trail development as a member of the Sanford Trails Committee. In her geocaching endeavors, she logged more than 1,692 finds.

Dollie was predeceased by her father James Hutchins and her mother Geneva Hutchins. She is survived by her “adopted sister,” Judy Hansen-Childers, her beloved tuxedo cat, Stella, and all the wonderful friends who meant so much to her. A graveside service will be held Friday, Sept 5, at 11 am at Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford, at the family plot.

Majella T. (Margie) Provencher

Majella T. (Margie) Provencher, 97, of Springvale passed on to her forever home on Saturday, August 16, 2025. She was born at home in Limerick, Maine on May 14, 1928, to Wilfred and Florence (Guillemette) Lemay.

Margie attended Holy Family School in Sanford, Maine. In her teen years she worked at the First National grocery store and as a seamstress. She married Lionel H. Provencher on June 29,1946, just one year after WWII ended. They raised 6 children, through some hard years as the Goodall Mills closed and jobs were scarce. She was a devoted wife and mother, a homemaker and a caregiver for 6 years when her husband suffered a stroke.

Margie loved reading newspapers and magazines, doing crossword puzzles, and playing Yahtzee. She enjoyed archeology, history, doing crafts, watching birds and gardening. Lionel and Margie could be seen often dancing, gardening, taking rides, shopping, barbecuing, and sitting together by the pond. Margie was a devout Catholic.

Margie was predeceased by her husband, Lionel; daughter, Angeline Barker; parents, Wilfred and Florence Lemay; and 5 brothers, John, Lionel, Alcide, Richard, and Louis. She is survived by her sister, Celine Lariviere (Sonny); two brothers, David (Donna) and Bernard (Karen); 9 children, Jules Provencher (Rose), Carmeline Riley (David), Evelyne Leblanc (Paul), Ronald Provencher (Sneigia), Darlene Smith, Monica Fitzgerald (Patrick), Tracy Lemay (Sadie), Brian Lemay, Candice Lemay (Glen); son-in-law, Dennis Barker; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Holy Family Church with interment to follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, Pine St., in Springvale,
