Anonymous school donation to benefit current and future generations: St. Thomas School posted on social media last week that an anonymous donor gave the school a $100,000 gift. The post noted that this is one of the most significant single gifts the school has ever received. “This act of selfless generosity will strengthen our school and create lasting opportunities for our students,” wrote Principal Angela Madigan. “It truly reflects the best of our community and the values we strive to teach every day.” The school plans to use the funds to enhance its new classical education curriculum, support its tuition assistance program, and upgrade technology in classrooms.
Free playgroup aims to help young children learn and thrive: A weekly playgroup for children ages 0 – 5 and their caregivers is set to start later this month. These free Play and Learn sessions, open to all Sanford families, will be held Wednesdays, beginning Sept. 24, from 9:30 to 11 am at the Springvale First Baptist Church, 429 Main St. Facilitated by early educators and community providers, these sessions will include story time, music and movement, snack time, outside play and more. Caregivers can benefit from community building as well as parent support and education. Sign up here to participate. FMI, email spalmer@sanford.org.
