In last week’s issue, we reported that the city has occasionally allowed contractors to take excess gravel that it didn’t have room to store. Public Works Director Matt Hill clarified that the gravel in question was not material that his department spent time and money processing, as that is public property; it was the material originally in the ground, left over when roads were being reconstructed.
