Passages

By Rev. Susasn Murphy

Lori M. Loughran (Bruno), 44, a lifelong resident of Sanford, passed away suddenly on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025, at her home.

She was born in Sanford on Sept. 21, 1981, the cherished daughter of Steven G. and Karen (Elliott) Bruno. She graduated from Sanford High School and the University of Southern Maine. While working toward her master’s degree in education, Lori made the loving decision to devote her time to being a stay-at-home mother – a role she embraced wholeheartedly.

Lori was known for her free spirit, her laughter, and her boundless love for life. She was fun, adventurous, and full of energy – someone who brought light and joy to everyone around her. Her greatest joy in life was her children, and she was a devoted, loving mother who poured her heart into every moment she shared with them. She volunteered often at her children’s schools and at her church, Curtis Lake Church, where her generous spirit touched many lives.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ryan P. Loughran, on July 5, 2025, and by her father, Steven G. Bruno. Lori is survived by her three adoring children – Braedon, Colby and Adel; her loving mother, Karen Bruno and fiancé Michael Whitmore. She also leaves behind her siblings, Lindee Bruno, Cheryl Bruno, Shawn (Christine) Bruno and Billy (Jennifer) Bruno; her father-in-law John Loughran; her sister-in-law, Jennifer Loughran; and brother-in-law, Thomas Loughran. Lori will also be remembered with love by her many nieces and nephews, and by a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss her laughter, kindness, and bright spirit.

A memorial service was held on Nov. 6 at Curtis Lake Church, with Rev. Josh Parsons officiating. Private interment will take place at Notre Dame Cemetery in Springvale.
