The Sanford Parks and Recreation Departments 38th Annual Turkey Trot Road Race (5K/10K/1 mile) was held Saturday, Nov. 22. The sun glittered gently at the start of the race, and everyone enjoyed a mild 48 degrees for the run. 5K first place winners (male and female) received a $50 grocery gift card and a $25 grocery gift card for second place. A Sanford Parks and Rec beanie hat went to the third-place finishers. 10K Winners (male and female) received a $35 gift card for first place and $20 grocery gift card for second place. Third place winners received a Parks and Rec beanie hat. A total of 45 participants came out for the event. The youngest runner was 12 and the oldest runner’s age was 72. This year two turkeys showed up for the race-a-fun twist. All made for a great morning of movement!
5K race results:
First place – Cedric Wiseman (13-17 yr) 18’ 48” and Corinne Shank (13-17 yr) 21’
Second place – Alexander Perauer (40-49 yr) 19’ 48” and Laurie Gaudreau (50-59 yr) 22’ 53”
Third place – Harrison Dutton (13-17 yr) 20’ 07” and Geri Clifford (60+ yr) 25’ 24”
12 years and under – Jonah Williams, 35’ 53”
10K race results:
First place – Nathan Huppe (40-49 yr) 36’ 55” and Karen Fogg (50-59 yr) 44’ 26”
Second place – Quin Dijkstra (13-17 yr) 37’ 22” and Renee Ducker (30-39 yr) 47’ 47”
Third place – Charles Schmid (13-17 yr) 38’ 52” and Elizabeth Berthiaume (30-39 yr) 58’ 16”
