Grant Boosts YCCAC Financial Programs

From a press release

York County Community Action Corp. recently received a $30,000 grant from Atlantic Federal Credit Union Foundation for its financial education program and resources.

YCCAC offers free tax preparation, coaching, credit repair, and matched savings, while also integrating services such as Head Start, WIC, health care, weatherization, and transportation.

This combination of financial empowerment and essential programs helps individuals and families achieve long-term security and a better quality of life, according to the head of the anti-poverty agency.

“Economic mobility isn’t just a goal—it’s a lifeline,” said Executive Director Carter Friend. “With this support, we can break down barriers and open doors for so many in our community, ensuring everyone has the chance to build a brighter future.”

As Atlantic Federal Credit Union continues to grow, President Scott Chretien pledges to use its resources to support agencies such as YCCAC.

“It has always been my belief that growth isn’t just about scale. It’s about creating opportunities for meaningful community support,” he said.

The Atlantic Federal Credit Union Foundation is the charitable arm of Atlantic Federal Credit Union, Maine’s leading credit union.
