Last Saturday afternoon, members of the Southeast New Hampshire Spinners Guild and the New Hampshire Spinners and Dyers Guild gathered at the Sweat-Morin Homestead for a “Spin In.” Men and women arrived carrying their spinning wheels despite the snow and cold. The spinners meet frequently at different locations in Maine and New Hampshire to spin wool fleece into beautiful yarn and flax into linen thread for weaving. They teach and learn about spinning techniques old and new, and they socialize. There may even have been a tall tale spun as well.

The Sweat-Morin Homestead is officially closed to the public during the winter months but will re-open in April for tours, events and programs about life in 18th century Sanford. There will be a special celebration to mark our nation’s 250th birthday as well. For all the detailed information as it becomes available, please visit the group’s website or find it on Facebook.
