Building Permits

By Lee Burnett

Eighteen new apartments in downtown Sanford recently received occupancy permits from the Sanford Code Enforcement Office.

The apartments contained in two buildings at 10-12 School St. are being marketed as workforce housing to tenants whose income is no more than 80 percent of median income. They are being developed by ReinCorp, a Springvale development, construction and property management company. ReinCorp is also constructing a third building on the site with 12 more units of market-rate apartments.

The three ReinCorp apartment buildings and two more apartment buildings being developed by TPD Construction on Main and Roberts streets, represent a total of 66 units of new housing infusing new life into the downtown.

The occupancy permits were among 50 permits issued during January by the Code Enforcement Office, substantially down from other recent months. Permits were issued for three roof-top solar projects, to Timothy and Mallory Karolides of 8 Deborah Ave., Thomas Damon of 12 Weeman St., and Jessica Ledoux 31 Fieldstone Lane. One Commercial Certificate of Occupancy was issued for 21 Bradeen St., Springvale, to PSL Services (for persons with disabilities).

Permits were also issued for a variety of electrical, plumbing, residential alterations and sign installation work.
