Zippy Copy Center joins the Chamber: The Sanford-Springvale Chamber of Commerce recently hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate Zippy Copy Center, at 1725 Main St., Suite 3, in Sanford, joining the Chamber. The business offers printing and copying services with “zippy” turnaround times. Owner Bryce Lambert bought the business in 2023 and spent his first year of ownership relocating the business to a new and improved space, upgrading the printers, expanding its offerings, and continuing to improve the quality of their products. The business has been a staple in the community since 1977.

The pitter-patter of little paws: Looking for that perfect companion? Grammy Rose Dog Rescue is partnering with Pet Supplies Plus to hold a pop-up adoption event, “Second Chance at Love,” on Sunday, Feb. 15, 10 am – 2 pm. Meet some of the rescue’s adoptable dogs at Pets Supplies Plus, 1364 Main St., Sanford. The rescue also welcomes bully stick donations to keep their pups busy.

Open House marks a new chapter: The Center for Grieving Children is holding an Open House at 1209 Main St., Sanford, on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 4:30 – 6 pm. The organization, which first opened in Sanford in 2011, moved to its new location last August, seeking a space that would enable the nonprofit to grow. The center provides a safe space, loving peer support, outreach and education to grieving children, teens, families and the community of Southern Maine. Kid-friendly robots: Springvale Library has Blue Bot Bluetooth-enabled programmable bots that patrons can borrow. The floor robots, designed for students in grades K – 2, introduce young learners to coding, sequencing and debugging. The bots were made possible by a grant from the Sanford-Springvale Rotary Club.

Shapleigh man enters race for the House: Marc Boisse, of Shapleigh, Maine, recently announced himself as a Republican candidate for the Maine House of Representatives, District 141, representing Shapleigh, Newfield and the greater part of Springvale. Boisse was born in Biddeford. For more than 30 years, he and his wife have resided in Shapleigh where they raised their family.

Goodall Memorial Library is inviting local businesses to sponsor its inaugural Indoor Mini Golf fundraiser, planned for April. Pictured is a sponsorship example.

Library seeks business support for golf fundraiser: Goodall Memorial Library is hosting its first Indoor Mini Golf fundraising event in April. This event will help raise money for community-centered programs such as inter-library loans, museum passes, the children’s program, and much more. Library organizers are offering local businesses the opportunity to sponsor a mini golf hole. Interested businesses should contact Sarah Hanson at sarahhanson1096@gmail.com. Space is limited.

Winterfest 2026 update: The organizers for Family Winterfest 2026, to be held Saturday, Feb. 14, at Gowen Park (9 am – noon) and Memorial Gym (10 am – 2 pm) have announced that Gowen Park Drive will be closed to traffic from 8 am – 2 pm that day for the safety of Family Winterfest participants. In addition, the Gotta Be Frank food truck will not be at the event; however, there will be cocoa and popcorn available.

Grant awarded to support electronics recycling: LeClair Technology Initiative recently received a $4,000 grant from the New England Grassroots Fund to help the organization increase its ability to offer free and low-cost electronics recycling. In a social media post, LeClair indicated that it would use the funds to invest in better tools, replace worn equipment, and create a more volunteer-friendly workspace.

Car maintenance supports mental health: During the month of February, Marc Motors Nissan, 1744 Main St. in Sanford, is donating $5 from every oil change to Sweetser. Check a box on that car maintenance to-do list and have a portion of the cost support mental health services.

Businesses and non-profits, check out these check-ins: The Sanford-Springvale Chamber of Commerce has scheduled three business check-ins for the month of February. These sessions are open to all local business owners and non-profit leaders. The first event focuses on Springvale and will be held Tuesday, Feb. 10, 8:30 – 9:30 am at the Chamber of Commerce, 510 Main St. in Springvale. The second event focuses on Downtown Sanford and is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 17, 8:30 – 9:30 am at Goodall Memorial Library, 952 Main St. in Sanford. The last event, focusing on South Sanford, will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 8:30 – 9:30 am at Flat Top Burgers, 1735 Main St. in Sanford. FMI on the check-ins, go here.
