The Sanford Housing Development Corp. is one of the two York County projects included in a new spending package signed into law, according to an announcement from Sen. Susan Collins of Maine.
The housing agency will receive $2.5 million to develop local workforce and senior housing.
Also in the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations bill that won final approval this week is $6.5 for student and workforce housing at York County Community College in Wells.
“Maine’s housing shortage continues to make it harder for many people in our state to find a safe and affordable place to live,” Collins said. “This funding will improve the quality and safety of affordable and emergency housing for families, seniors, and workers throughout Maine. As chair of the Appropriations Committee, I worked hard to secure this critical funding, which will help address one of the most pressing needs in our state.”
