Sanford Parks and Recreation’s Family Winterfest 2026 takes place on Feb. 14 with activities planned for the whole family to enjoy throughout the day.

Early birds can start off with outdoor activities including sledding at Gowen Park hill and warming up by the bonfire run by the Sanford Fire Department from 9 am-noon. Kiwanis Club of Sanford will be organizing the snowshoe and cross-country ski races inside the Gowen Park tennis courts with prizes awarded to participants. Snowshoes and skis will be available for use, but please bring your own shoes and skis if you can.

Indoor activities in Memorial Gym from 10 am- 2 pm will include multiple large inflatables with a giant inflatable obstacle course. Two special stations will be held in the lower cafetorium – an art station set up for children to be creative and a mini Toddle Time playground for little ones aged 1-4. Free water, hot cocoa and popcorn will be available as well at the Memorial Gym.

Shannon Rodgers, Sanford’s new parks and recreation coordinator, said she was excited about Winterfest. “It’s going to be a great day!” she said.
