The 2026 schedule for the Sanford Mainers has the team opening at home on June 4, marking four years since they kicked off the season at home. Even before the first pitch is thrown, however, the season is already a notable one. This year, the Mainers are celebrating their 25th anniversary as an organization. In addition, Goodall Park will host the NECBL All-Star Game on Sunday, July 26. This is the first time since 2015 that the Mainers will host the event, which includes the Home Run Derby as well as the game.
While league rosters are coming together, the Sanford Mainers have been building a team of college interns who will handle a variety of responsibilities involving broadcasting, production, marketing and analytics. These interns, many who bring with them impressive experience covering sports, will fill critical roles for the organization, keeping the fan base informed of the games and upcoming team events as well as broadcasting the games on television and radio.
Cole Purvis, a sophomore at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications, is the team’s new director of broadcasting and media. A Saco native and graduate of Thornton Academy, Purvis began his journey into broadcasting at Thornton Academy’s TATV network while also calling games for many of the school’s teams. At Syracuse, Purvis is assistant sports director for Z89, serving as the play-by-play announcer for the university’s basketball and lacrosse teams. He also sits at the sports desk for WAER Syracuse Public Media where he assists with social media and broadcast production and is active with the university’s television station.
Caroline Smith, a senior studying Psychology and Sports Media at Northeastern University, is a spring intern for the Mainers, serving as a marketing and content specialist working on the lead-up to the Mainers’ 25th anniversary season. Smith has some history with summer collegiate baseball: She served in a graphic design and marketing role for Bethesda Big Train Baseball.
Noah Grant joins the team as a radio broadcaster and sideline reporter. He will serve as the official voice of Mainers road games on Seacoast Oldies radio station (104.3 FM), while providing game-day insight on the sidelines for all home games. A lifelong baseball fan and resident of Brownfield, Maine, Grant is a 2023 graduate of Bridgton Academy, where he played baseball, and is currently in his junior year majoring in Mass Communications at St. Cloud State University (SCSU). Grant serves as the sports director for the campus television station UTVS, the in-studio host for SCSU men’s hockey broadcasts on The CW Twin Cities, and the radio play-by-play voice for SCSU baseball.
Joshua Rose joins the creative team as director of videography. A recent graduate of Keene State College, Rose majored in film production and captured the stories of many of the college’s teams, including swimming, basketball and women’s hockey. He is currently a freelance sports videographer in New England.
Evan Beaudette, who is studying Sports Media and Analytics at Virginia Tech, is taking on the role of production assistant for the summer. A Saco native and graduate of Thornton Academy, Beaudette is familiar with Goodall Park, having spent time there due to family ties to the local Babe Ruth League umpiring group.
Noah Wright joins the Mainers as the team’s Analytics Specialist, handling TrackMan and Synergy data operations throughout the summer. A Scarborough native, Wright is currently completing his second year at Ohio State University where he is studying both Statistics and Sports Industry. He also works part-time for Pro Football Focus during the football season, tracking live data for the NFL and college football.
Throughout the season, fans can follow Mainers game broadcasts on NECBL+, Unbeaten Sports Network (which can be streamed on Amazon Prime), and ESPN+ for select games with Mainers voice Cole Purvis. Road games will also be aired on 104.3 Seacoast Oldies with Noah Grant behind the mic.
