Why Was The FBI in Waterboro Today?
York County Sherriff's Office collaborated with Boston FBI
Traffic was backed up Wednesday afternoon in downtown Waterboro as local authorities worked with the FBI’s Boston Division. The activity was centered around the 700 block of Main Street, where authorities — including at least one officer wearing an FBI jacket — were seen on scene.

While major details have not yet been released to the public, officers had set up tents and were observed digging in the yard. Although this activity is not an everyday occurrence in the ‘Boro, officials say there is no cause for alarm.
The York County Sheriff’s Department posted on Facebook:
“There is no threat to public safety at this time. The activity is related to an ongoing investigation involving both agencies. Residents and businesses in the area may notice an increased law enforcement presence and are encouraged to continue normal daily activities.”
Residents with relevant information are urged to contact Chief Deputy Jeremy Forbes at jdforbes@yorkcountymaine.gov.
More information is expected to be released as the investigation continues.
