The Sanford Planning Board approved several projects in March and earlier this month.
On April 1, the board unanimously OK’d an application from R. Pepin & Sons, Inc. to construct stormwater features, such as a settling basin, designed to solve runoff problems at its property at 59 Shaw Road, near Shaw Field. Water has been running into the road for years, and the plan is seen as a major improvement.
On March 18, the board approved an application from Three Rivers Land Trust for a major site plan amendment to install a boardwalk, bridge, culverts, and restoration work on wetlands at the Sanford Community Forest on upper Oak Street. This vote was also unanimous.
At the same meeting, the board reviewed an application from Housing Maine, LLC for a 14-lot cluster subdivision on Lebanon Street in Sanford. The project includes a new private way and one lot to be designated as open space. The developer has committed to install sprinklers in the homes. The applicant must still come back for final approval.
On March 4, the board gave its unanimous approval to changes made during construction of Phase I of the housing project on Barth Way in Springvale, on land that was formerly part of Nasson College. Nasson Development LLC first presented the amendments to the board in December, and the applicant has taken care of all the conditions imposed then. A member of the Sanford Trails Committee asked about a trail connecting to the nearby rail trail. The board said the trail should be included in a future site plan.
