Calling all Writers: Join our Team

The Sanford Springvale News thrives on stories — the everyday moments, the milestones, the challenges and the triumphs that shape our community. As a nonprofit newspaper, we exist to keep local news free and accessible to everyone. But to do that, we need more voices. We need your voice.

We are looking for a few specific volunteers: one to write our twice monthly City Council reports, and another to continue our sports highlights column, Sports Notes. You don’t need professional experience — just curiosity, reliability, and a willingness to learn. Whether you’re a seasoned writer, a student, a retiree, or someone who simply loves this community, there’s a place for you here.

If those assignments don’t excite you, what story or column might YOU propose? We also need human-interest stories about the people who make this town special and stories about the many events and activities offered by our community.

If you’ve ever thought, “Someone should write about that,”— that someone can be you. We’ll support you with guidance, editing, and a welcoming team of volunteers.

Local news disappears when communities stop contributing to it. Your reporting can help neighbors stay informed, strengthen civic engagement, and preserve the character of our town. When you volunteer your time and talent, you help keep local news free for everyone.

If you are interested in joining our team, please reach out to Michelle McCarthy at ssnews@sanfordspringvalenews.com.
