For the first time in its 12-year history, the Springvale Farm Walk – a yearly event that celebrates local agriculture in our area – featured a photography contest. Some 47 photos were submitted, and winners were announced this week. Top winners got an assortment of local farm goods.
The Farm Walk is held the fourth Sunday in July, Open Farm Day in Maine, to give participants a closer look at some of the farms along Hansons Ridge, many within walking distance of each other. Farmers offer cool drinks, products for sale, and an up-close view of their businesses.
