Chocolate Benefit Celebrates 10 Years

The Sanford Backpack Program will celebrate the 10th anniversary of its Chocolate Benefit Spectacular on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 5:30-8 pm at the Nasson Community Center. The popular annual fundraiser brings together local businesses, volunteers and community members for an evening of chocolate, entertainment and raffles, all in support of providing food to Sanford students in need.
The Chocolate Benefit Spectacular is the program’s largest fundraising event, generating more than half of its annual operating budget. Proceeds help provide backpacks filled with food to Sanford students nearly every week of the year, ensuring they have access to nutritious meals when school is not in session.
This year’s milestone celebration will feature an assortment of bite-sized chocolate creations prepared by local businesses, organizations and community supporters. Participating chocolatiers include Partners Bank, Gotta Be Frank, Travel with Tracy, Pearl Baking Company, Caffe Prego, Frannie’s Mini Donuts, Big Guys Waffles, Sarah’s Table, Threads of Hope, Jon Bettis with Scentsy, and Troiano & Hanselmann.
Guests will have the opportunity to sample a variety of chocolate treats, from traditional favorites to creative new offerings. Take-home boxes will also be available.
In addition to the chocolate selections, the evening will feature live music by local favorite B-Side, a cash bar provided by Above & Beyond Catering, and raffles offering a variety of prizes just in time for holiday shopping.
A special highlight of this year’s event will be the presentation of the inaugural Jocelyn B. Hartford Volunteer of the Year Award, recognizing the dedication and generosity of volunteers who make the Sanford Backpack Program possible.
“This event is such a wonderful example of what makes Sanford special — businesses, volunteers, and neighbors coming together to have a great time while making a real difference for local kids. We are so grateful for the generosity that has made this event a success for ten years, and we can’t wait to celebrate with everyone,” said Ayn Hanselmann.
Premier sponsors for this year’s event are Richard and Pamela Lolley and William and Mary Frances Frank, whose generous support helps make the anniversary celebration possible.
The Sanford Backpack Program is also seeking donations of raffle items from local businesses, families and community members. These contributions help maximize the event’s fundraising impact while showcasing the generosity of the Sanford community. To donate, go to Backpacks@strongersanford.org or call 207-206-2294.
General admission and VIP tickets are available. VIP packages include a reserved table for six, early admission and access to the chocolate line, a raffle ticket for each guest and individual drink tickets.
