New Orleans Jazz Fest postponed until the fall
Courtesy of New Orleans Jazz & Heritage FestivalThe 2020 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival has been postponed to the fall due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
The festival was set to take place April 23 to April 26 and April 30 to May 3. Among the many well-known artists who were scheduled to perform: The Who, Stevie Nicks, Lionel Richie, The Beach Boys, Dead & Company, Lenny Kravitz and The Black Crowes.
Other acts on the bill included Nile Rodgers & Chic, Kool & the Gang, Rickie Lee Jones, The Isley Brothers, Aaron Neville, Elvis Costello & the Imposters, The Cowsills, Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes, Buddy Guy, John Prine, Irma Thomas, Jimmy Cliff, and The Dirty Knobs — the band fronted by Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell.
The fest was also slated to feature several multiple-artist tribute performances, including one saluting New Orleans music legend and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Dr. John, who died last year.
“The health and safety of the community, our musicians, festival fans, participants, sponsors and staff are paramount, and we urge everyone to follow the guidelines and protocols put forth by public health officials,” Jazz Fest organizers say in a statement.
