Chamber of Commerce Update

The Chamber celebrates York County Pediatric Dentistry moving to Sanford Photo: Sanford-Springvale Chamber of Commerce

Despite some June rain inconveniences, the Sanford-Springvale Chamber of Commerce welcomed three businesses, including one new to Sanford, Chinburg Properties, which is renovating Jagger Mills. The Ambassador Committee hosted five ribbon cuttings, including York County Pediatric Dentistry, Frannie’s Mini Donuts, TBC Creations, Mainely Rustic, and ACE Softwash.

The Board of Directors also added three new Board members for three-year terms; Stacie Parker, Partners Bank; Tracey Cornell, York County Community College; and Lesley Unger, Springvale Public Library.

The Chamber worked on an “Explore Sanford” initiative this spring, which is nearly wrapped up.  For the first project, they created a rack card that shows things to do in the summer on one side, and indoor fun on the other side. Displays can be found at members’ businesses around the city. For the second project, they created a tab on the Chamber website called “Explore Sanford.” This tab is a drop-down menu of categories like Places to Eat and Things to Do. They have a few more categories to do such as Home & Trades, Health & Wellness, and Manufacturing. This is a new member benefit that will be a great tool for residents and visitors.

The Chamber is bringing back the Pumpkin Festival/Harvest Daze in a new event called AutumnFest, which will feature booths, activities and a food court. The family-friendly community event will take place on October 17th, from noon until 4 pm at Number One Pond in Sanford. Interested vendors will find more information on the website in July.

Chamber President, Cari Quater, has begun conversations with its manufacturing members to find out how these unique Business-to-Business members can be supported. The overarching theme so far is finding qualified workers. Quater will be working to continue connecting these businesses to Sanford Regional Technical Center, York County Community College, and recruitment companies. There is also talk of a yearly York County meet-up for these businesses to connect.

Quater attended the recent job fair at Sanford Community Adult Education to connect with resources and is also keeping in touch with the Public Works Department about the RAISE grant. She has initiated roundtable discussions with business owners to gather and share information and concerns. The first sessions were in March, and the next sessions will be in August. All business owners are welcome to attend; you do not need to be members of the Chamber.

On July 16, 2026, from 8:30 to 11:00 am, join Krystal Small, owner of Small Strides Benefits Group and Cassandra Churchill, VP of Regional Sales for Voya, for an open house style morning of information sharing and consultations at Meeting Grounds Cafe in Springvale. This is a great opportunity for business owners and HR department heads to hear about health benefit options and retirement options for employees, often without increasing costs.

The July networking event will be an UnPlug & Play program, at Bowl-A-Rama. Chamber members are invited to join in for networking fun with bowling, food, and a cash bar. Teams will be made with the intention of mixing people for networking.

Registrations for the Chamber’s Annual Golf Tournament are now open. The fundraiser will be held on Friday, August 14th at Province Lake Golf Course. The cost is $95 per person. Sponsorship opportunities are available.
