Library Book Talk Will Feature Local Author

A Sanford native who’s penned a thriller with a religious theme will discuss his book July 21 at Goodall Library.

David Landry, a retired anesthesiologist, will appear in the library’s Community Room at 10 am.

His book, “The Ossuary,” — written with assistance from Maine crime writer Gerry Boyle – concerns an ancient burial box stolen from a crypt under a medieval cathedral in Paris. Evidence suggests the box could contain the bones of Jesus, which could shake the foundations of Christianity. The novel takes readers from Paris to Florida to Rome and finally New York City as its hero attempts to unravel the mystery.

Landry describes the book as PG-13 rated. “There is romance, no sex, some violence but of a scale you would see on many TV shows. The language is rather tame and not offensive,” he said.

Landry was born and raised in Sanford, graduated from Sanford High School, and practiced medicine for years in the Waterville and Augusta area, eventually retiring from Goodall Hospital.

He’s appearing at the library at the invitation of a North Parish Congregational Church book group, but members of the public are welcome.
